Bio:

Jessy is a yoga and mindfulness teacher that believes the practice of connection to yourself is a ever evolving journey.  Through first connecting to the physical self and physical world and then bringing this awareness inward we are able to manifest a much clearer direction and purpose that not only helps ourselves but the larger world around us.  To be able to tap into the wealth of inner wisdom, joy, and life that lives within us we bring more authenticity to our lives and the people we meet.

Bio- Jamie Young

I’m a natural dye enthusiast and educator, artist, and mom of two littles who operates under the name “The Barefoot Dyer”. I grew up in the countryside in the outskirts of Bastrop but now reside in Austin, Texas where my journey with natural dyes began. I specialize in sustainable methods and techniques of transferring color from plants to natural fibers. I grow many of the plants I work with in my front yard urban organic garden. Sharing and teaching about natural dyeing is more than a job for me – it’s something that I truly love to do. I frequently teach workshops locally and also offer a selection of online natural dye courses.

Saturday 3:30-4:30PM with Central Texas Mycological Society

All Mushroom Are Magic Workshop

Join Central Texas Mycological Society for a talk about what people are calling the “earth’s internet.” Everyone is talking about the invisible, underground network that connects most plants and distributes water and nutrients. This workshop will give you the practical knowledge to learn how to use spent mushroom substrate (SMS) to build healthy soil, sequester carbon, increase water retention, feed the soil web, your plants and eventually you! This workshop will cover the basic biology and then we will show you low-cost and low-tech ways to recycle SMS and other organic matter back into the soil and also grow delicious Vitamin D filled culinary mushrooms! These basic techniques require no special equipment or electricity, and can all be done outdoors using organic materials found on most farms and gardens. Let’s build healthy soil together!

Extra info:

Fungi are foundational species for nearly all terrestrial life on Earth. They are critical links between the health, stability and abundance of the soil, plants and freshwater on which human and animal life depends. The vision of the Central Texas Mycological  Society (CTMS) is to foster recognition of the field of mycology as a beneficial ally in the effort to restore and sustain the resilience of the natural world in the general public. Our mission is to strengthen the conservation, awareness, and study of Mycology in the communities of Central Texas by creating a member self-directed non-profit organization, CTMS.
