Jimmy Herring is one of the most sought after American guitarists working today. After picking up the guitar as a teenager Herring quickly became known for his prodigious talent, which he explored further as a student at Berklee College of Music and the Guitar Institute of Technology. The North Carolina native has now been playing guitar for close to 40 years and made an indelible impact on the music world, playing with everyone from The Allman Brothers Band to The Grateful Dead to Phil Lesh and Friends. A staple in the Jazz Fusion and Jam Band scene, Herring has served as the lead guitarist for Widespread Panic since 2006. Known for his limitless improvisations, he is skilled in multiple musical contexts ranging from classically song-driven rock to technically demanding jazz fusion. Prior to joining Widespread, Herring was the founding member of The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz is Dead and Project Z, and enjoyed tenures with the legendary Phil Lesh as a part of his band as well as The Other Ones, a project comprised of Grateful Dead members. Herring has been featured on more than twenty records including two of his own, 2008′s “Lifeboat” and 2012′s “Subject To Change without Notice.”
