Digital Antique:  The Austin instrumental rock band Digital Antique will be making their third consecutive appearance at UTOPiAfest. The band revolves around the nucleus of guitarist Travis Kennedy, bassist James Parker Randolph, and drummer Payton Holekamp, each one a well-seasoned musician in their own right. Kennedy studied under Steve Williams, former guitarist for Marcia Ball, and plays an atypical guitar style that runs the gamut of musical genres from classical to spaghetti western. Randolph studied under renowned bassist John Reid, developing a funky melodic style that incorporates unconventional time signatures and rhythms. Holekamp became an obsessive percussionist at an early age, and through years of practice and performance has obtained a proficiency in a myriad of percussive genres. The band released their debut album in July of 2010. Digital Antique’s cinematic compositions are further strengthened by a string quartet, which makes for a captivating live show that has been featured at several festivals since the band’s inception.
